Roman Temple |
||||
|
The remains of Roman civilization are live in the sea coast of Side.
You could view the sea waves coming to the Apollo temple . Four
pillars
facing the
harbor and the water coming to the pillars from the sea.
The tourists generally sit in this temple and watch the sea waves coming to the place. The earliest temple was a Roman temple of Dionysus near the theatre. There you also have a fountain in front of the temple.
The remaining ruins of Side include three temples, an aqueduct, and a nymphaeum. Side's nymphaeum – a grotto with a natural water supply dedicated to the nymphs – was an artificial grotto or fountain building of elaborate design.
Turkish archaeologists have been excavating Side since 1947 and intermittently continue to do so. |
